CSI FANS -- WE HAVE FORENSICS
The Hempstead PAL presents Forensics in the Classroom. Project of the 21st Century (F.R.I.E.N.D.S.) Community Learning Grant, facilitated at the ABGS Middle School. (Class instructed by Ms. Tracy Worthy)
PAL will provide a 6 to 8 week (3 days a week) summer transitional program, which will focus on youth entering the ABGS Middle School sixth grade. This program will aid in brushing up on their reading skills and give an introduction in Forensic Science. When the September school year begins, PAL will then provide for twenty six weeks of service for all grade students (28 weeks, 2 days a week) after school with a junior Police Academy and Forensics Course from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Their career interest and development strategy program will take place at the ABGS Middle School. In addition, there will be a partnership between the Hempstead Village Police Department,tutors providing homework assistance, Sensei Doug Thomas, Kennedy Memorial Park, and Adelphi University from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with transportation being provided home on special days. Dates will always be announced. Trips will be provided during the course of the programs.
Over the course of five years the Hempstead PAL expects to serve some 150 youth through the 21st Century Grant.
