FORENSICS 2008-2009 STUDENTS HAVE GRADUATED!!!!
June 9, 2009 the "Forensics In the Classroom" after school program has completed it first year of a five year community learning grant. We had 13 youth complete the final course, WOW. That is great, the program had a very rocky start in September of 2008, we lost over 10 youth due to transportaion and food services, or should I say the lack there of. We found ourselves many days fighting the powers that be, and in the end we had a functioning free after school program.
The following students hung in there through thick and thin, and recieved recognition from the County Executive Tom Suozzi's office, and the Hempstead Village Police Department......
Destiny Bruzon
Eneas Bonilla
Stephane Charles
Stephon Davis
Emani Drayton
Eyavonne Drayton
Tyler Herring
Aiseosa Irowa
Emely Martinez
Douglas McLen
Tyesha Richardson
Andrew Staton
Dante Yuanis
HATS OFF TO YOU ALL FOR BELIEVING IN THE PROGRAM!
Now let's talk facts, our youth used basic skills to solve murder mysteries, such as (science) and deduction (math). Each student was also offered homework assistance two times a week, giving them after school enrichment. Wait, on top of that each child had the option to enjoy either basketball, or floor hockey (physical activities). Oh yeah, another no brainer.. Fun Zone, Adventure Land, Nassau County Morgue, several guest speakers, numerous give aways, a small snack and drink. The last thing I must mention is FRIENDSHIP, we all had the opportunity to meet new FRIENDS and break bread together.

Holiday Season/ Event TidBits
The Wiki entry for holiday suggests: Many Canadians will use the terms vacation and holiday interchangeably when referring to a trip away from home or time off work. In Australia the term can refer to a vacation or gazetted public holiday, but not to a day of commemoration such as Mothers' Day or Halloween.
